There are four Cornerstones of the CFP® Designation:

Experience

Before providing financial planning services as a CFP® financial professionals have to be practicing for at least 2 years. 

Ethics

CFP®  professionals pledge to a code of ethics and standards that is enforced by the CFP Board of Standards, Inc.

Education

At the forefront of the certification is educational requirements. Required to provide holistic panning, there are strict continuing eduation requirements mandated. 

Exam

The CFP® exam tests an advisor's ability to apply financial planning knowledge practically with clients, testing with real-life situations to ensure they're qualified to help clients plan.

What is a Fiduciary?

Fiduciary is defined by Oxford Languages as "involving trust, especially with regard to the relationship between a trustee and a beneficiary."
